Frequently asked questions
What are the income tax slabs in Nepal for 2083/84?
For income from 1 Shrawan 2083 (17 July 2026): 1% on the first Rs. 10 lakh, 10% from Rs. 10 to 15 lakh, 20% from Rs. 15 to 25 lakh, 27% from Rs. 25 to 40 lakh, and 29% above Rs. 40 lakh.
Is there still a separate tax slab for married couples?
No. The Finance Act 2083 removed the separate couple schedule, so the same slabs now apply to everyone, married or single.
Do SSF contributors pay the 1% tax?
No. People contributing to the Social Security Fund or an approved pension fund don't pay the 1% tax on the first Rs. 10 lakh.
How much retirement contribution is tax-deductible?
Contributions to EPF, CIT, SSF or an approved pension fund are deductible up to the lowest of: the amount actually contributed, Rs. 5 lakh a year, or one third of your income.
Is this calculator's result my exact tax?
It's an estimate for resident individuals with salary income. Allowances, other income, medical tax credit or remote-area deductions can change your final tax, so check with your employer or the Inland Revenue Department for your exact case.
